Excursion Two: Journey to Taos

A trip to Taos offers a vivid experience of the Southwest; stunning scenery, rich artistic traditions, and Taos Pueblo; the oldest inhabited building in the United States.

We’ll travel along the Rio Grande Valley and into the narrow Gorge, following the river, lined with cottonwood trees and small villages.

Once in Taos, we’ll visit the historic Ranchos de Taos church, made famous by artists Ansel Adams and Georgia O’Keeffe. We’ll proceed to Taos Pueblo to visit a Pueblo Indian village that has stood largely unchanged since prehistoric times and has been designated a UNESCO site. A native guide will provide a walking tour of the village. After the pueblo visit, guests will have some time to enjoy downtown Taos, with its shops and galleries. Taos is the original center of New Mexico’s art world.
